To the objects of hair work - the hair was often used from relatives. The hair was processed in a technique reminiscent of tying and was spun, braided and arranged into different decorative shapes. The gear was called chain scaffolding, or hair scaffolding and reminds of a tie pad. Known in Europe since the 15th century, technology became a fashion phenomenon during the 17th century and the first half of the 18th century. The hair works were personally loaded objects that were highly estimated in all social classes. The objects could be love gifts as well as memorials after deceased family members. This hair work is probably made from a valley curl - hair curl - from Dalarna on work migration. Most of the hair coats were native to Vämhus. They were known for their skill to pre-finished hair work, tex. bell chains, brooches etc. The craft could be carried out with tools that were easy to carry with them.
