Patricia Spears Jones’s interview discusses her career progression through taking the helm of the Poetry Project at St Marks Place, as well as the New York School’s own progression through a myriad of diversity and inclusion expansions and contractions related to gender and race. Like Maureen Owens, Elinor Nauen, and Eileen Myles, Spears Jones refers to the New York School as an often gendered club, and reflects on her own growth into and out of it, while also reflecting on the “end of it” (ie, the school itself). She addresses the comradery she still shares with many of her peers, and the way her writing ahs grown. The interview concludes with the inclusion of Spears Jones’s poem, “Oh that Brazilian Guy.”
