Interference with Polarized Light (Fresnel-Arago Laws)

A series of experiments performed by Fresnel and Arago in 1817 revealed the basic properties of polarized and unpolarized light. Only after these experiments had been performed was the transverse nature of light fully understood. The four interference laws of Fresnel and Arago can be easily demonstrated using a Michelson interferometer.
