Mieltä paljastavien kokemusten filosofiaa: Kirja-arvio Aidan Lyonin (2024) teoksesta Psychedelic Experience: Revealing the Mind.

Aidan Lyonin Psychedelic Experience on systemaattinen tutkimus, jossa yhdistetään analyyttista filosofiaa kognitiotieteellisen tutkimukseen ja esitetään uudenlainen, käsitteellisesti tarkka ja empiirisesti uskottava teoria psykedeelisten kokemusten luonteesta. Lyon osoittaa, että tällaiset kokemukset eivät ole pelkästään psykedeeleiksi kutsuttujen yhdisteiden vaikutuksia, vaan psykedeelisyys koskee paljon laajempaa kokemusten kirjoa. Yhteistä näille kokemuksille on kätkettyjen mielensisältöjen nouseminen tietoisuuteen, mihin termin osat psykhe (mieli) ja delos (paljastuminen) alun perin viittasivatkin. Tältä pohjalta teoksessa käsitellään esimerkiksi tutkimusnäyttöä sen puolesta, että meditaatio tuottaa psykedeelisiä kokemuksia, sekä osoitetaan, että psykedeliaa voi kokea myös vaikkapa madeleine-leivosta syödessä tai taideteosta katsellessa. Filosofiakin voi olla psykedeelistä.
