The problem of war and peace in German political thought of XVIII – early XIX centuries
View through CrossRef
The article considers the evolution of the German political thinkers views on war and peace as unavoidable perspectives of humanity. As the result of this analysis, the author concludes that these views have completed a definite circle connected with the political and cultural events of European history of that period. The thinkers at the start of this circle are convinced that the establishment of stable peace in international relations is unavoidable and accept wars only as temporal and extreme measure of its adoption. At the end of the 19th century they did not only reject the idea of the eternal peace , but considered wars as the compulsory condition of the mankind survival, in a paradoxical way coinciding with the first ones in their intention to save life on the Earth.
