Post-Emergence Herbicide Dynamics: A Study of Efficacy and Weed Control Spectrum in Wheat Crop (Triticum aestivum L.)

View through CrossRef
During the 2023–2024 Rabi season, a field study was conducted at the Agronomy Research Farm at Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology in Kumarganj, Ayodhya. to assess the efficacy of various post-emergence herbicides, alone and in combination, for control of weed in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Ten treatments were used in the experiment, each of which was replicated three times using a completely randomized block design. The treatment uses of both narrow and broad-leaved herbicides in combination, alongside each of them applied alone, to get better results from the experiment. Application of Clodinafop-Propargyl + Metsulfuron methyl @ (60 + 4) g a.i.ha-1 and Clodinafop-Propargyl + Halauxifenmethyl + florasulam @ (60 + 10.21) g a.i.ha-1 results in lowering weed density and dry weight at various crop growth stages, resulting in the lowest WI of 3% and the greatest WCE of 87.01%, respectively. The maximum plant growth was reported in weed-free conditions. Regarding herbicidal treatments, application of Clodinafop-Propargyl + Metsulfuron methyl @ (60 + 4) g a.i.ha-1followed by Clodinafop-Propargyl + Halauxifen-methyl + florasulam @ (60 + 10.21) g a.i.ha-1 showed significantly higher results with respect to other treatments applied. The most significant grain yield was recorded from weed-free conditions (56.03 q ha-1), which is comparable to the application of Clodinafop-Propargyl+ Metsulfuron methyl @ (60 + 4) g a.i.ha-1 (54.35 qha-1) and Clodinafop-Propargyl+ Halauxifen-methyl + florasulam @ (60 + 10.21) g a.i.ha-1 (53.18 q ha-1).
