Cafer Seydamet – political exile in Europe (1920–1930)
View through CrossRef
The article is dedicated to Jafer Seydamet, one of the Crimean People’s Republic leaders. Multiple works, touching various aspects of Crimean history, Crimean Tatars’ status and goals, have been written by him during migration and published by Turkish and European periodicals in 1920–1930. The data he uses, for example estimates of the Crimean Tatars’ population in the first third of the 20th c., differs greatly from the numbers referred to in modern Russian historiography. Special attention is devoted to Jafer Seydamet’s unofficial contacts with Soviet representatives.
