The Child Trade. After a painting by Margaret Isabel Dicksee (1858-1903) from 1893. The motif goes back to the well-known anecdote, according to which Händel as a child made a clavichord (here it is a harpsichord) on the attic of his parents' house to practice in secret. The picture was shown at the Royal Academy in 1893. Such representations were among the specialties of the entire Dicksee family of artists. (Incidentally, the brother of M. I became president of the Royal Academy) The lithographies on India paper were published by the Berlin Photographic Society for £1. 1S. , the copies of the limited artistic sample collection series for £3. 3S.
