An Effective Framework

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is an advanced network architecture that separates the control plane from the data plane, enhancing scalability, flexibility, and efficiency. However, its programmability also makes SDN vulnerable to cyberattacks. The unique security challenges posed by SDN are discussed, emphasizing the need for dynamic testing approaches. The paper proposes a framework for integrating DAST into SDN workflows, with a focus on testing controllers, APIs, and inter-plane communication. DAST's runtime capabilities, such as detecting network security misconfiguration are thoroughly evaluated. Experiments and analyses demonstrate DAST's effectiveness in identifying vulnerabilities in SDN protocols, including VLAN, ARP, and DHCP. The results validate DAST's role in improving the overall security posture of SDN networks.
