Two Short Interviews with Liv Ullmann

View through CrossRef
This chapter features two interviews with the Norwegian actress and film director, Liv Ullmann. In the first interview, she discusses the precautions that she took as a Christian directing Sophie, a story which some critics succinctly described as “a Jewsih Madame Bovary.” Ullmann also describes the scrutiny she faced as a female director being tested by an overwhelmingly male crew. The second interview explores Ullmann’s on and off-set relationship with Ingmar Bergman, a filmmaker with whom she worked as an acress in Persona (1966) and The Passion of Anna (1969) and as a director in Faithless (2000).
