Navigating Violence: Understanding Intimate Partner Violence in Saskatchewan's 2SLGBTQ+ Women
View through CrossRef
This qualitative study explores the lived experiences of intimate partner violence (IPV) among 2SLGBTQ+ women in Saskatchewan. Despite Canada's progressive framework, participants reported high IPV rates, compounded by unique barriers such as stigma, lack of tailored services, and challenges in rural settings. Emotional violence was most prevalent, with additional risks linked to sexual identity disclosure and community isolation. Social support networks and peer storytelling emerged as critical facilitators for recovery and empowerment. Findings highlight the urgent need for inclusive, culturally competent IPV interventions and the value of survivor-centered, community-informed approaches to address the specific needs of 2SLGBTQ+ women.
