The eminent Dutch humanist Justus Lipsius corresponded with fellow intellectuals all over Europe. He carefully edited his own letters, revising them if necessary, and published an influential manual of letter-writing. His growing reputation as the greatest Belgian humanist led to plans for a complete edition of his correspondence, comprising some 4300 letters. Publication started in Brussels in 1978 and is still running (Iusti Lipsi Epistolae). This excellent edition is founded on sound editorial principles, highly facilitating the user's access to the world of Late Humanism.
