Özbek Edebiyatında Emir Timur

During and after the Second World War, Adil Yakubov, Erkin Vahidov, Abdulla
Aripov, Rauf Parfi, Otkir Hashimov, Hurshid Devran, Azim Süyün, Shevket
Rahman, Yoldash Eshbek, Said Ahmed, Mirmuhsin Askad, Erkin Azam, Ahmed
Azam, Shukur Halmirzayev, Mirmuhsin, Pirimkul Kadirov and Böribay Ahmedov
brought a new breath to Uzbek literature. The national awakening movement
became unstoppable despite the oppressive government in the 60s, and artists
began to convey their ideas to the public through metaphorical expressions. In
the Republic of Uzbekistan, which declared its independence in 1991, art and
artists have a great responsibility to help its people rise again and become
stronger materially and spiritually. Writers and poets have achieved serious
success in fulfilling their duties by writing works that highlight national values,
history and culture in order to reveal and remember the suppressed spiritual
feelings and national identities of the people. Especially stories, parables, novels
and dramas in which historical heroes are shown as examples are brought to the
reader. In addition to the changes in the political and social life of Uzbekistan
after independence, Emir Timur has an important place in the process of looking
at and writing history with a new perspective. Emir Timur, whose name was
given to streets and schools and whose statues were erected as the ancestor of
the Uzbeks, has been the subject of poems, stories and novels in Uzbek literature.
Pirimkul Kadirov’s “Emir Timur Simasi”, Böribay Ahmedov’s novel “Emir Timur”,
Abdulrauf Fıtrat’s theater play “Timur Saganasi”, Abdulla Aripov’s drama
“Sahibkıran”, Töre Mirza’s epic “Sahibkıran”, Sherali Jorayev’s poem
“Sahibkıran”, Hurshid Devran’s stories “Emir Timur”, “Sohibqiron Nabirasi “Emir
Timur’un Oğlunun Ölümü Hakkında Rivayet” and the video film “Timurname”,
Naim Gayibov’s “Emir Timur Devri Maneviyatı”, Salahiddin Tashkendi’s reviews
“Timurname” can be counted among these. In all these works, an attempt was
made to create an Uzbek identity by emphasizing Timur’s achievements, services,
justice and wisdom.
