Head and hands, of plaster white, protrude from a white cloak, lownecked and pleated, with huge buttons. The head, eyes, and lips are clearly marked in black and red: in this fashion the look in the right eye—the other eye is closed—and the laugh puckering a single corner of the mouth acquire animation. Forehead enlarged by a white headband which is gripped by a second band—the traditional one—in black velvet. The hands, also of plaster, and the wrists, beneath the ample and flowing sleeve, have narrow cuffs. Broad trousers which disclose the Instep and shoes with silver buckles.N.B.
