Stylistic explorations of en plein air painting in the palette knife technique
View through CrossRef
Pointing out the application of the technique and technology of oil painting, made on canvas with the help of a palette knife, within the en plein-air study, the author specifies the special pictorial possibilities, as well as the stylistic analysis such as: rendering the freshness of colors, obtaining different special effects and textures, the appropriation of the most important structures and models of the artistic painting made in the bosom of nature, produced through the perceptual-visual and aesthetic system, which is impossible without the sensations caused directly by the contact with nature. This technique of painting with a palette knife is ideal for both architectural landscapes and abstract art, which offers the possibility of obtaining the illusion of a three-dimensional texture, as well as the texture itself, through three-dimensional effects that create a special and original air to the works/paintings and also allows the work to be finished "alla prima". The research undertaken also touches on the subject of human knowledge, namely affective artistic-aesthetic knowledge through artistic images oriented towards self-knowledge and the creation of the human universe.
