Report of meeting U.S. geodynamics committee

Following publication of the report U.S. Program for the Geodynamics Project: Scope and Obectives by the U.S. Geodynamics Committee (USGC), ten ad hoc reporters were designated to develop recommendations concerning implementation of the topics in the chapter ‘Intitial Priorities.’ The societies that have been actively interested in the Geodynamics Project were informed of this action and were invited to nominate people to work with the reporters for the various topics.The Geodynamics Project correspondents in geoscience departments (about 140) were urged to inform their colleagues; all were encouraged to communicate directly with the reporters, who took initiative in communicating with those known to be interested in their particular topics. All of them held at least one meeting.
