রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের মহৎ চরিত্র The Noble Character of Rabindranath Tagore

View through CrossRef
This article explores the noble character of Rabindranath Tagore, one of the most influential literary and cultural figures of South Asia and the first Asian Nobel laureate in literature. While Tagore’s literary legacy is widely recognized in China, his personal virtues and humanistic spirit remain relatively less known to the Chinese people. The author aims to highlight the moral greatness of Tagore’s character through a detailed examination of his family background, personal relationships, and social commitments. Drawing from Tagore’s rich familial legacy of education, philanthropy, and ethical integrity, the article illustrates how these values deeply shapedhis personality. Particular attention is paid to his unwavering love and responsibility toward his wife and children, his compassionate treatment of poor farmers during his time as a zamindar, and his establishment of rural reform initiatives, including schools, hospitals, roads, and agricultural cooperatives. The article also discusses Tagore’s profound sense of justice and moral courage. His fearless criticism of British imperialism, Japanese militarism, and fascist ideologies featured his commitment to global humanism. Tagore’s denunciation of the British opium trade in China, his protest against the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre by renouncing his knighthood, and his outspoken opposition to Japanese and Italian expansionism are cited as key examples of his moral clarity and principled activism.
