It is a reproduction by Richardson of a drawing by John Thorpe (c1565-1655) in his book of drawings in Sir John Soane's Museum. It shows a house with two wings (in the shape of Thorpe's initials) linked by a ground floor gallery. Below, in the border, is a small plan of the house.
