Turkish and Turkish Culture Textbooks Prepared for Bilingual Turkish Children Investigation of Proverb Teaching

Language is the most important means of communication and the protector and transmitter of culture. The individual recognizes his/her past and language education is an important tool for adopting the cultural elements of the society they are a part of. Turkish some of the main aims of teaching are to introduce Turkish culture from the past to the present and to teach and strengthen national values. In this context, students are taught to be carriers of culture. It is essential to teach proverbs, one of the elements of language. Turkish children living abroad are already because they are constantly intertwined with the society they live in, they are in danger of alienation from their own culture. For this reason, more qualified planning should be in teaching proverbs to Turkish children living abroad. This study aims to analyze the Turkish language courses prepared for teaching Turkish to Turkish children abroad. How Turkish and Turkish Culture textbooks are qualitatively and quantitatively in proverb teaching is examined. In this qualitative study, document analysis was conducted, and Turkish and Turkish Culture was obtained about the use of proverbs in culture textbooks. The sample of the study was selected from the Ministry of National Education 8th-grade Turkish and Turkish Culture textbook prepared by the Turkish Language and Culture Department. From the data obtained based on this, it was concluded that the 8th-grade Turkish and Turkish Culture textbook was not sufficient in terms of proverb teaching and that this It was concluded that this inadequacy should be overcome by designing a planned process.
