Therapeutic outlooks for Gal‐1 and genotoxic agents
View through CrossRef
Gal1 belongs to a family of soluble lectins that have both intracellular and extracellular functions. Elevated Gal1 is implicated in numerous signaling cascades, immune response pathways, and chemotherapy resistance, and may contribute to proliferation or cell death, depending on cancer cell type. Chen
et al.
describe a new interaction between Gal1 and PARP1 in non‐small‐cell lung cancer cell lines, which enhances DNA damage response and reduces cell death. Furthermore, the authors show that tumors can be resensitized to etoposide treatment using Gal1 inhibitors. They further explore the role of PARP1 in homologous recombination and that of Gal1 in cell metastasis.

Galectin-1 (Gal-1) and Galectin-3 (Gal-3) levels in seminal plasma and serum in azoospermic patients versus fertile men: A cross-sectional study
Introduction: Galectin-1 (Gal-1) and galectin-3 (Gal-3) are expressed by many immune cells and receive considerable attention in the context of immunity. We aimed to compare betwee...

Galectin-3 Induces Atrial Fibrosis by Activating the TGF-β1/Smad Pathway in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation
Background: Atrial fibrosis plays a critical role in the occurrence and maintenance of atrial fibrillation. The role of TGF-β1 in mediating at...

Protective Effect of Galantamine against Doxorubicin-Induced Neurotoxicity
Background and aims: Doxorubicin (DOX) causes cognitive impairment (chemobrain) in patients with cancer. While DOX damages the cholinergic system, few studies have focused on the p...

Enhancement of tumor vaccine immunogenicity by the natural anti-gal antibody
Enhancing the immunogenicity of tumor vaccines is an important step for the stimulation of an antitumor immune response. This can be achieved by targeting tumor vaccines for uptake...

EXPRESSION OF GALECTIN-3 IN CARDIAC MUSCLES AND DETERMINATION LEVEL OF PLASMA GALECTIN-3 IN DOGS WITH DEGENERATIVE MITRAL VALVE DISEASE
Degenerative mitral valve disease (DMVD) is a common acquired cardiac disease in older small breed dogs. The pathophysiology of this disease is similar to mitral valve prolapse (MV...
