O PAPEL DA ENFERMAGEM NA HUMANIZAÇÃO DO CUIDADO NA ATENÇÃO PRIMÁRIA À SAÚDE

View through CrossRef
ABSTRACT This study aims to identify the main benefits of implementing humanization in Primary Health Care (PHC), such as improving the relationship between health professionals and patients and reducing operating costs. In addition, it seeks to evaluate how welcoming and qualified listening influence the care process and patients’ response to treatment, impacting recovery and length of hospital stay. Another objective is to develop strategies to promote the active participation of patients and their families in the care process, contributing to patient autonomy and empowerment. Finally, the study aims to implement humanized practices through the active role of the multidisciplinary team, including the creation of unique therapeutic plans (PTS) in patient care. Humanizing care is essential to ensure that patients are treated with dignity, respect, and empathy, which are fundamental elements for quality care. The PHC, as the gateway to the Unified Health System (SUS), seeks to promote health and prevent diseases, with nurses playing a central role in this process, through health promotion, monitoring of chronic patients and health education, establishing a relationship of trust with patients. The general objective of the study is to analyze how nurses contribute to the humanization of care in PHC, identifying benefits, challenges and impacts of this practice on the quality of care and the well-being of patients. The justification for the study is based on the need to improve the relationship between health professionals and patients, optimize treatments, reduce operational costs and increase patient satisfaction and adherence to treatment. The methodology adopted was qualitative and descriptive, with a bibliographic review of academic studies on humanization and the role of nurses in PHC, using the content analysis technique to identify humanized practices in PHC. The results indicate that humanization significantly improves the quality of care, reduces operating costs, decreases hospital readmissions, and promotes faster and more effective patient recovery. The active participation of patients and their families, combined with the collaborative action of the multidisciplinary team, strengthens the patient-professional bond and contributes to better clinical outcomes. The discussion points out that the implementation of humanization faces challenges such as scarcity of resources, work overload, resistance to change, and cultural barriers. Overcoming these challenges requires continuous training of professionals, organizational changes, and greater support for health teams. Humanized practice not only improves care, but also motivates and benefits health professionals. The final considerations highlight that humanization is essential for comprehensive and quality care in PHC, with nurses playing a decisive role in offering technical, emotional, and educational support. Humanization contributes to the effectiveness of treatment, improves the patient experience, and optimizes the functioning of health institutions. Keywords: Health, Strategies, Humanization, Nursing.
