Abstract
The phenomenon of Suffixaufnahme-the repetition of the number and case marking of the head noun on the attributive noun in the genitive case-has been on record since Hurrian first began to be investigated. It is commonly regarded as a peculiarity of Hurrian and as one of the most characteristic features of this agglutinative and exclusively suffixing language of the Ancient Near East (cf. Speiser 1941: 201).
