Colonies in London

View through Europeana Collections
In addition to the first wave of White Russians who finally settled in this country following the Russian Revolution of 1917 thousands more have been unobtrusively filtering into Britain during the last three years. They are refugees from Stalin's realm, seeking freedom in this country. Formerly living a miserable existence in DP camps in Western Germany and Austria, these immigrants are now to be found in London, in the cotton and steel industry and on the land. Victor Baltoff a White Russian living in London edits a newspaper for fellow exiles in this country. His experience shows why thousands of Russians both aristocrats and workers in Britain were united by a hatred of their homeland rulers.
