Coat of embroidered wool and linen with silver-gilt thread, made in Great Britain, 1780-1789. Man's coat of red wool and linen, embroidered with silver-gilt thread and lined with red silk. It is cut away and has a turn down collar-shaped boa slight point at the back. The cuffs are medium wide, and stitched down to the sleeve. The pockets have rectangular flaps and are placed horizontally. Buttons of woven gilt thread also trim pockets, cuffs, back pleats are stitched from neck to pocket level, but the bottom three button holes are not slit. White metal hook and eye at the neck. Both sides of the front of the coat, pockets and cuffs are trimmed with an embroidered gilt thread button-hole motif which is finished with a bow loop. Hand-woven and hand-sewn. Embroidered wool and linen with silver-gilt thread, lined with silk, hand-woven and hand-sewn.
