AbstractCommunity corrections include everything from pretrial diversion to intermediate punishments. The purpose of community corrections is to enhance public safety by encouraging a crime‐free lifestyle and providing cost‐effective, evidence‐based programs in communities for the supervision and treatment of offenders. Two theoretical perspectives that support community corrections are labeling and differential association.
