De Strasbourg à Bâle et Zurich : une « école rhénane » d’exégèse (ca 1525-ca 1540)

Bernard Roussel : From Strasbourg to Basle and Zurich : a «Rhenish school» of exegesis (c. 1525-c. 1540).
There is no lack of monographs on S. Münster, J. Oecolampade, H. Zwingli, M. Bucer... With reference to R.G. Hobbs and J. Friedman, we view the works of the Bible scholars of Strasbourg, Basle and Zurich (1525-1545) as the manifestation of a «Rhenish school of exegesis». We pick out the characteristic features of this «exegetical conjuncture » which flourished in the same period as the Wittenberg school, the editing of the commentaries of Denys the Carthusian, Thomas de Vio, Pagnini, as well as being that of John Calvin’s training. An attempt is made to assess its impact on the history of the Bible in the sixteenth century.
