Letters of Ezra Pound and Dorothy Pound to Juan Ramón Jiménez and Zenobia Camprubí (1948–1956)

Facsimiles and transcriptions of sixteen letters in chronological order from Ezra and Dorothy Pound to Spanish poet Juan Ramón Jiménez and his wife, writer Zenobia Camprubí, during Pound’s years in St. Elizabeths. One letter from Winifred Overholser (1948) grants Jiménez and Camprubi permission to visit Pound, with fifteen letters (some handwritten, some typed) from Dorothy Pound, Ezra Pound, or both in collaboration. Also reprinted here are Jiménez’s poem, “Soy Animal de Fondo,” in Spanish with an English translation, as well as an excerpt from Pound’s Canto 90 that refers to this same poem.
