View through CrossRef
Kata kunci: HDL; HbA1c; prediabetes Title: Factors Associated with the Prevalence of PrediabetesBackground: Prediabetes is the beginning of diabetes mellitus. Prediabetes does not have typical features like diabetes mellitus, but the prevalence is more than diabetes mellitus at 29,9%. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the incidence of prediabetes in electric power office employees in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta..Method: Quantitative research with an analytic observational approach using a cross-sectional study design. The research sample is all employees of the electricity office in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta for the administrative and field sections who have carried out periodic health checks in 2022 as many as 1,329 people. The variables studied were age, length of service, type of work, BMI, abdominal circumference and HDL levels with the incidence of prediabetes. Secondary data analysis by conducting univariate and bivariate analysis. Statistical tests use the chi-square test.Result: Employees with prediabetes were 29,6% with characteristics of age ≥40 years (55,2%), working experience > 5 years (30,5%), working in administration (35,1%), BMI in the fat category (37,4%), at-risk abdominal circumference (38,7%), and low HDL levels (36,4%). There is a significant relationship between age (p = 0,0001), years of service (p = 0,007), type of work (p = 0,0001), BMI (p = 0,0001), abdominal circumference (p = 0,0001), and HDL levels (p = 0,006) with the incidence of prediabetes. Conclusion: This study concluded that the incidence of prediabetes occurs due to low HDL levels, lack of physical activity, and increasing age which increases the risk of diseaseKeywords: HDL; HbA1c; prediabetes
