Cultura escolar no grupo escolar Amaury de Medeiros

The objective of our text is to understand how the school culture was constituted in the Amaury de Medeiros school group through the newspaper "A Escola" produced in the 1930s. It is a historical research based on cultural history (Peter Burke, 2008). We used the THEORETICAL categories school culture (Vidal, 2004) and Roger Chartier's social representation (1990). The results revealed that the Amaury de Medeiros group built on October 18, 1924. it stood out for its grandeur compared to the buildings around the neighborhood of Afogados in Recife, having 14 teachers, adequate furniture and various teaching materials. The physical space had leafy trees that were used for the practice of physical exercises, for pedagogical activities such as the kindergarten where they did manual work, gardening and raising small animals. Finally, A Escola was considered one of the best school newspapers of the period, as it circulated the cultural policies produced within the group with discourses and practices aimed at the enrichment of Pernambuco society.
