The book provides an overview of the complex topic of sustainable development, illustrating its relevance and main facets to a heterogeneous audience by adopting the interpretative key of companies and the market. After an introductory chapter, the text focuses on three fundamental actors represented by institutions, businesses and citizens: roles, features and impact on the envisaged paradigm shift. Two specific chapters are dedicated to the energy transition and to a focus on a sector (automotive) which more than others illustrates the complex interactions between the different pillars of sustainability.
