Gasc, Anna Rosina de (submission): Portrait Samuel Frhr. by Cocceji

View through Europeana Collections
Hip element in the three-quarter profile en face, the left arm placed on a parapet, a letter on the right. The clothes are elaborate, and Samuel Frhr wears in the usual way. Cocceji (1679-1755) an Allon wig. A shelf with books in the background and a view of the Berlin Court on the right, which refers to his profession as a jurist and his work as president of the Chamber Court since 1723. The portrait is set in a frame whose corners are decorated with rocaillen and acanthus, with coat of arms at the bottom. It is a weak imprint whose wrinkles have been restored, but small mistakes have remained especially in clothing. The template was Barbara Rosina Lisiewska’s full-figure portrait, which she painted in 1737 (now Warsaw National Museum Inv.-Nr. 186849). Purchased for the Märkische Museum of O. Kohn 1905. The depiction is subtitled Mi. "Samuel L. B. de Cocceji,/S. Reg. Majest. Boruss. Sanctioris Consilii atque Status/Minister, Tribunalium omnium tam Ecclesiasticorum qua/civilium Praeses primarius Dynasta in Wussecken,/Kleist, Kepka, Laas, etc.", including bez. li.
