Dawna fotografia jako źródło do dziejów Wielickiej Żupy Solnej

The art of photography has been attracting and fascinating people for nearly 200 years. It combines the natural function of a document with the function a piece of art. Regardless of the individual characteristics and capabilities of the photographer, it is a real documentation of the current state of affairs. Each photo is a unique moment caught in the frame. The main subject of this study is the analysis of research areas that use the photographic collections collected at the Saltworks Museum in Wieliczka. Using museum photography by researchers from various fields of science is not an exceptional and unique phenomenon. Nevertheless, the collections from Wieliczka are, on the one hand, an inherent element of cultural heritage and, on the other hand, an important historical source, which becomes an instrument of world heritage protection. In this work, it was possible to present the collection of the Wieliczka Museum and to analyse its use in various research fields.
