The Huawei Pedigree: Honor, xFusion, Yinwang, and Huawei's Legacy

<div> One of the hottest names in Chinese tech is Honor, which&nbsp;<span>built the “Lightning” autonomous robot that broke the world record&nbsp;</span><span>set by a human for a half-marathon by seven minutes&nbsp;</span><span>at the 2026 Beijing E-Town Half-Marathon.&nbsp;</span>What is worth highlighting<span>&nbsp;is the fact that Honor is not a robotics&nbsp;</span><span>company at all. Honor is a smartphone company spun off from Huawei in 2020 that only&nbsp;</span><span>started designing robots in 2025. In other words, Honor was able&nbsp;</span><span>to beat out all of its competitors in China to create arguably the&nbsp;</span><span>world's fastest running robot without any significant experience&nbsp;</span><span>in robotics.&nbsp;As this article will show, a significant factor behind Honor's&nbsp;</span><span>success and the success of&nbsp; other Huawei spinoffs like xFusion and Shenzhen Yinwang&nbsp;</span><span>is the "Huawei pedigree." With the benefit of the "Huawei gene," these short-lived spinoffs can adopt a long-term vision and boldly expand into new technological areas without running into then same short-term tunnel vision that afflicts most startups.&nbsp;</span> </div>
