Relevans og conduct. Counter-conduct og resonans

This text is based on experiences from and research in a professional, multicultural, and multi-religious everyday life in a suburb of Oslo. First, reference is made to examples where church leadership favours and aims at increased relevance of the church. This is then contrasted with material from interviews conducted in the aforementioned suburb. Where the church leadership’s conduct is concerned with relevance, the interpretation of the interviews shows that the interviewees are withdrawing from the idea of relevance. Aided by Hartmut Rosa’s concept of resonance, this withdrawal is then specified as a kind of resistance from below. Through the interpretation of the interviews, resonance is brought into dialogue with Michel Foucault’s concepts of conduct and counter-conduct to see if this dialogue helps to develop and to deepen possible forms of counter-conduct. Resonance, due to incidents and actions of counter-conduct, appears to be crucial for the location/localization of the church at these concrete places.
