Constraint-effects-mitigation model: a systematic literature review
View through CrossRef
Purpose
The current study reviews the relevant literature to analyse the implementation of the constraint-effects-mitigation model in different contexts. The model is rooted in the leisure constraint theory, which tests the interrelationship between constraints, negotiation, motivation and participation.
Design/methodology/approach
Systematic literature review was done using six databases to probe into the application of the constraint-effects-mitigation model. The initial stage includes identification of the keywords and after comprehensive screening, 85 articles were found eligible, PRISMA framework has been utilised for the screening of the articles.
Findings
Findings of the study will help researchers and practitioners gain a better understanding of the constraint-effects-mitigation model’s functionality, and the contexts in which it has been applied.
Practical implications
This study proposes multiple theoretical and practical implications, which can enable future similar research work. It highlights the model’s potential application in emerging domains and under-researched regions.
Originality/value
This is a pioneering study that investigates the different research themes and methodological approaches being used in constraint-effects-mitigation model and has reviewed the studies that have applied the constraint-effects-mitigation model as a whole.

Constraining simulation uncertainties in a hydrological model of the Congo River Basin including a combined modelling approach for channel-wetland exchanges
Compared to other large river basins of the world, such as the Amazon, the Congo River Basin appears to be the most ungauged and less studied. This is partly because the basin lack...
