Contrary to the imaginary landscape, there are the detailed scenes that tell about the everyday life of the travelers: On the right side of the picture lies a distinguished hostel, on the left a simple resting place with cooking. Yuan Yao served as a court painter for the Chinese emperors Yongzheng (1723-1734) and Qianlong (1736-1795).
