Gorgias ist – nach Umfang und Gehalt – einer der großen Dialoge Platons. In den Gesprächen des Sokrates kommen die entscheidenden Themen zur Sprache, die Platon für den Rest seines Lebens beschäftigten: das Verhältnis von Rhetorik, Macht, Gerechtigkeit und Glück, die Beziehung zwischen der Lust und dem Guten und die Frage nach der richtigen Lebensführung.
Eine neue Übersetzung der platonischen Dialoge muss für den heutigen Leser ohne die Zuhilfenahme des griechischen Textes oder eines Kommentars verständlich sein. Zugleich sollte sie die Eleganz der platonischen Gespräche vermitteln. All das bietet die nun als eBook erschienene Übersetzung, die auf der renommierten Platon-Werkausgabe der Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur zu Mainz basiert.
