Tatiana L. Shaumyan: India, My Love Eternal (An Interview)

An interview with the famous Indologist, historian of the East, and head of the Center for the Indian Studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dr. Tatiana L. Shaumyan, was prepared as а part of the project “Russian Oriental Studies — Oral History” of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, supervised by Dr. Valentin Ts. Golovachev, who publishes the authoritative series “Russian Oriental Studies — Oral History”. The interviewer is interested in the interviewee’s choice of profession, studying at Moscow State University, the professional training of the interview heroine at Moscow University, memories of colleagues and an assessment of the formation and development of Indology as an Oriental studies’ specialty in the USSR, in modern Russia and abroad.
