The economic development of large amounts of hydroelectric power in many parts of Canada has led to an important growth, in this country, of industries producing aluminum, calcium carbide, artificial abrasives, ferro‐alloys and other electrip‐furnace products. These industries are described and their value to Canada and the United States is indicated.
