HISTORICAL DIRECTION IN FEDIR STRYGUN THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES

The article, based on the stock collection of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine and periodicals of Ukraine, analyzes the activities of the actor and director Fedir Strygun. The main focus of the research is on the issues of national and historical memory in theatrical performances directed by Fedir Strygun. The research methodology is based on the principles of historicism, systematization, scientificity. General scientific, special and interdisciplinary methods of scientific knowledge are applied, as well as theoretical developments of leading Ukrainian history scientists and theater arts. It is proved that Fedir Strygun is a talented director and a versatile actor who perfectly embodies the images of Ukrainian historical heroes in theatrical performances and films. One of the main features of his work is the historical direction of his theatre performances. The director resorts to historical reconstructions of important events in the history of Ukraine, introducing the viewer to cultural phenomena and names. It is shown that the theatre under the leadership of Fedir Strygun performed an educational mission. The theater has become not only a cultural platform for the popularization of theatrical art, but also a place for discussing important and topical issues of state formation in the country.
