Lu Xun and World Literature

This volume examines the work of Lu Xun, known as the father of modern Chinese literature and regarded as one of twentieth century China’s most influential literary figures. Our focus in on Lu Xun’s works in relation to notions of world literature and literary worlding, and our volume offers detailed analyses of Lu Xun’s own literary oeuvre as well as of foreign works that engage with his writings. We also give detailed attention to different aspects of the publication process, ranging from questions of how the texts in edited volumes are selected to practical considerations of how books are printed and bound. In this way, the volume makes an important contribution not only to the field of Lu Xun Studies itself, but also to a parallel set of discussion about the category of world literature and of processes of literary worlding.
