Autism in Gestalt Theory Towards a Gestalt Theory of Personality

Abstract
For us, who work with children and adolescents, it is very important to have a developmental Gestalt theory, as well as a Gestalt approach to psychopathology. Based on the theory of contact and the self, I consider autism as a contact and boundary problem in which the child is caught right at the boundary. Thus, we can think of a Gestalt approach to autism. As a result of my experience with autistic children, I present an explanation of the development of the child utilizing a Gestalt perspective.
