Flashpack' is a low cost monolithic pumped packing system based on flyash and ordinary portland cement. Both of these are available at low cost in Cape Breton. 'Flashpack' is therefore a practical and inexpensive alternative to 'Astrapack, the packing system
recently introduced at Lingan Colliery and currently being imported from the U.K. This report describes the 'Flashpack' system and its use at Parsonage Colliery in the U.K., which the author visited in November 1985. A programme for introducing the - system to Lingan Colliery, based on observations
made during the visit is proposed.
