Role of Digital Wallets in Financial Empowerment: Insights from Middle-Aged Delhi- NCR Residents
View through CrossRef
Digital wallets are quickly becoming a big deal in India, changing how people pay for things like groceries and cab rides. They make payments fast, easy, and secure, which seems very modern. As India moves toward cashless payments, digital wallets are popping up everywhere, especially in busy cities like Delhi-NCR. However, not everyone is ready to use their phone as a wallet. Many people between 40 and 60 years old often hesitate. This group is crucial because they make important financial decisions in families, so their reluctance has a significant impact in busy urban areas.

This study looks into why these individuals might be unsure about digital wallets. Are they curious but do not know how to start? Do they trust these apps with their money, or do concerns about hackers keep them sticking to cash? We examine how user-friendly these tools are, if they feel safe enough, and what they need to learn to feel comfortable using them. By using surveys and direct conversations, we explore what attracts them to digital wallets and what holds them back. Using a mix of surveys and heart-to-heart talks, we are exploring the big questions: What draws them in? What pushes them away? Research shows that convenience is a huge pull—think skipping lines or paying bills from the couch—yet whispers of tech troubles and security scares often linger. Digital literacy, too, seems to play a starring role; if you have never grown up with a smartphone, an app can feel like a puzzle.

Our goal? To figure out how digital wallets can fit into their lives, not just as a trendy gadget but as a real boost to managing money with confidence. We are looking at ways to make this tech friendlier—maybe simpler screens, or guides that speak their language—to bridge the gap and pull them into India’s digital economy. This work aims to shed light on how these everyday tools can empower a group that’s too often left on the sidelines of the tech wave, while navigating the vibrant, ever-shifting landscape of Delhi-NCR.
