Ichiyūsai Kuniyoshi’s I様 Ialbum by Utagawa Kuniyoshi about the 24 Chinese role models of the child’s piety with lyrics by the well-known gesaku IIwriter Ryūkatei Tanekazu IIII( 1807-1858). The picture shows Saijun Das (Tsai Shun) attacked by bandits as he collects berries for his mother during the famine. When asked why Saijun divides the berries into two groups, he explains that the mature berries are for his mother and the immature ones for him. The bandits are so moved by this childhood love that they run Saijun and give him rice and meat.
