De-fossilizing Fuel Sectors with Biofuels from Biomass
View through CrossRef
The necessity for swift action to address global fuel efficiency requirements, crude oil price volatility, global warming, and future energy needs is evident. On a global scale, approximately 90% of energy requirements are met by fossil fuels. In response to the energy crisis and climate change, numerous countries are turning to the use of biofuels as alternative energy sources. Although fossil fuels will remain the primary source of energy production, biofuels are gaining ground as a substitute for these traditional fuels. However, there are restrictions on the use of biofuels due to concerns about their production and the use of raw materials. First-generation biofuels are currently being used on a commercial scale, but research is focused on reducing production costs and addressing the limitations of advanced fuels that utilize waste biomass, algae, and genetically modified microalgae.
