Abstract
Pacification is a military concept that was popularly used during the US war in Vietnam. Since then, however, the term had disappeared not only from the discourse of political power and the opposition but also from the academic literature until Mark Neocleous and George S. Rigakos revisited it. Neocleous and Rigakos theorized the rising concern for “security” in the post‐9/11 period with recourse to the term's historical significance and relationship to security as part of their broader project, called “Anti‐Security” (Neocleous & Rigakos 2011).
