Yomud (SE Caspian, to north along Caspian shores) Turcoman Main Carpet. Staggered rows of guls in red blue and green with color arrangement giving an "S" diagonal emphasis. Distinctive propeller border on white groun (most likely derived from flatwoven prototypes). Outer and guard borders are a series of diamond shapes of 2 + 2 squares. Large tapestry weave alems, intact. Warps: 2 Z spun S plied white and brown undyed wool on one level. Wefts: 1 Z spun undyed light brown wool; 2 yarns per shoot. Pile: 2 Z spun S plied wool. Pile colors: dark purple-red, light red, blue, blue-green, dark yellow, corrosive dark brown and white. Knots: symmetrical. 48 knots per vertical decimeter. 31 knots per horizontal decimeter. Both selvedges: 2 warps wrapped in blue wool. Top end (an alem): 33 cm. tapestry weave in dark red wool with thin blue stripes. Bottom end (an alem): 33 cm. tapestry weave in dark red wool with thin white stripes at the end. Pile rug, wool.
