The Kuwait crisis 1990-1991
View through CrossRef
the article is devoted to the analysis of the causes of the Iraqi-Kuwaiti armed conflict and its consequences in the international arena. The difficult situation in the Persian Gulf zone due to Iraq's aggression against Kuwait in the summer of 1990 is analyzed. The contradictory position of the EEC member states on the Kuwaiti issue has been revealed, which led to their participation in a joint military campaign against Iraq with the United States. It has been proven that this action contributed to the strengthening of the American presence in the Middle East and at the same time the weakening of Western European positions in this region.
