Decorated stone (street Alférez Casado, Porcuna, Jaén, España)

Stone fragment decorated with the silhouette of several human figures from the excavation of a structure in a plot of Alférez Casado de Porcuna street (Jaén, Spain). The outline of the figures is made with amorphous charcoal. Size: 14 cm wide x 10 cm high. Chronology: Century I B.C. The structure in which this object was found could be a singular building. In spite of the limited space preserved in the sun, its interior characterization, with a splendid pavement of large slabs, and its exterior revoked and painted in garnet color, induce to think about its differentiated character. Its extramural situation, which presents no doubt, can indicate its connection with any of the accesses to the great city of Obulco, but it could also be a cultual building, a sanctuary extramural of the type documented in Atalayuelas (Fuerte del Rey, Jaén) or in Torreparedones (Baena, Córdoba), or those indicated, by the sculptural materials located in them, for the oppida of La Bobadilla (Alcaudete, JaJaayuelas.
